  68. A easy tip I use. Since we have a cat, and with cats you get hairballs. We leave it to dry (instead of trying to get it up immediately). By doing this, it comes up very easy and does not leave a stain. You just pick up the mess and vacuum up the rest. It is unsightly while it is drying, but it is the easiest and painless way to take care of the mess.

  78. I need to stop watching here videos lol. Since I have watched her I have bought the dyson v8 absolute (I got to admit really impressed with it because my son has allergy’s) , microfiber cloth and cedar mops some other stuff she’s advertised here. Hoping I can keep my place clean like her with my two demanding sons a 4 month and 2 year old and  so far my house still looks like crap lol I might as well keep wishing . And instead of cleaning I sit and watch her videos so I am not helping myself.. 🙂

  79. Smushed banana 🍌 😩

  80. I got my book but never got my free stuff 🙁

  81. A black sharpie that was unknowingly uncapped and sat on…. on a white fabric couch

  82. We have a three stains on our carpet. I watched this in hopes of finding the fix! One is a blood stain, one is nail polish (but it’s a kid nail polish, hoping that comes out?) and the worst is blue ball point pen… a lot. Our son thought he’d get creative there…

Side note: since watching your channel I use microfiber cloths to clean most things in my home (except toilets… i just can’t). But since the cloths always say wash on cold, or lukewarm I do worry a bit about how clean and/or sanitzed the cloths get. Ours aren’t color coded and I use general blue cloths from home depot for all tasks. (hoping to buy amazing Maker cloths soon…but we are a family of 6 and I go through a lot of cloths!)

I mean what if I use a cloth on the bathroom one day and later on the kitchen counter… Which also brings me to what about washable mop heads and steam cleaner cloths? After I mop, even with a steam mop the cloth pad is so filthy and it really makes me want to wash it on sanitize cycle. (I tried that and it shrunk though).

please tell me again why I don’t need to wash microfiber on hot…? It’s hard for me to relax about this.

  83. foundation 😢😬

  87. I also inherited my carpet and there isn’t a lot I or someone else haven’t spilled. Ugh, oh and thanks: )

  88. do these stains also come out of upholstered chairs with the same remedies you mentioned?

  89. QUESTION!!!!! HELP PLEASE!!!
Last week I did a load of laundry & by the time I got to the dry stuff in thr dryer, I noticed a smell. My washer is a top load and the dryer is a front load. (I have Multiple sclerosis & sometimes by the time things are dry, I cannot get to unload.)
The dryer, however, has a top pull thing to pull out and remove lint from. Both appliances are electric only.
I noticed that the top of the dryer was wet. My cat had obviously peed on the top and some went into the lint trap! I immediately took the lint trap out and cleaned the trap out. I could smell on the trap itself, that the cat pee had gone into the area around the trap. I soaked the trap itself in a mixture of white vinegar & stuff called “Odor Ban.” Then I let it dry fully! I wet a rag with the same solution and ran it down the area where the trap goes qs far as I could.
I let every thing dry at least 48 hours.
I rewashed everything in the dryer and when I noticed no “odd cat pee smell” I put it back in the dryer. While the room didn’t smell immediately, as soon as it was dry qnd I opened it to fold the towels, the smell was back!!!! UGH!!!
I have since covered the entire dryer top with Reynolds Wrap and now it is impossible for him to get to the lint trap to pee (if he does, it is easily cleaned up & can’t go into the trap!)!!
Do you hqve any suggestions on how to get this odor out of the dryer??

Also with the wine stain you can pour salt on it to soak up the rest of it including anything that may have gone deeper.

  178. I have had to clean a red wine stain on my off-white cashmere sweater and there is no trace of it after trying with white wine! Same goes for our synthetic high pile ivory carpets. After trying the club soda method, the stain did not come off. Like, no result at all. 🙁 The next time I tried with cheap white wine (that I use for cooking) and there is no trace! Maybe it depends on the carpets…

As a sales person who has worked for a huge cleaning company in London, I will advise you simply – not to touch any stain if you have an expensive or delicate carpet/rug. You WILL make it worse and you WILL seal the stain within the fibres. Get a pro to do it no matter how expensive it is. Even soap can ruin your fabric or dyes in your carpet/rug. And forget about stuff like Vanish – they always makes it way worse.
As a person who inherited a flat with dirty carpets from previous tenants, I will tell you to professionally clean them every 6 months to a year. Most people have no clue that 8L of water will be PITCH BLACK after having their bedrooms done. And no, steamers will never clean your carpets properly! Hot-water extraction is the method you need.

  179. Oil stain on light color suede boots 🙁 any tips?

    1. No chance. No matter what you see online, you have a higher chance of ruining your boots. Suede is a pain on its own. :l

  180. There is another technique to removing blood stains. Upholsterers have used it for years. When they’ve stained the upholstery with a pin bloody finger they would use their saliva. Yep sounds nasty but it works, the enzymes in saliva breaks down the protein in the blood. Then just wipe with clear water. Just a caveat here. Make sure you rinse your mouth with clear water before using this method.

  181. red wine on my clothing

  182. Vinegar should never be used w/ pet stains. It eliminates the stain but ‘sets’ the odor so the pet will keep coming back to it! 😳

    1. As a person who worked for a huge carpet cleaning company in London as a sales person, let me break it to you – it is NOT coming off… Sorry if that makes you sad. Plus, you have most probably sealed the stain with the detergents. You should have called a pro ASAP.

  189. How to clean marble floor

    1. I think she has a video on floors and even though she doesn’t have marble, I think she mentioned some tips… Check her older videos. Say 1-2 years ago. 🙂

  190. I am struggling with cat vomit stain on carpet in our rental home me HELP!!! Thanks for this video, so easy to follow the steps

    1. Get a pro! Do not mess around is my tip. Sorry if it would seem expensive but you will probably make it worse on your own.

    2. Try regular shaving cream! The one that foams up white, not the gel. Then, scrub like the dickens.

  191. Yellow mustard

  192. Melissa, did you have to beat up Chad to get blood on the carpet just to show us how you removed it??? 😱 (just teasing 😂)

  193. road tar on the carpet

  194. where was this video 2 weeks ago xD???

  195. candle wax 🙁

  196. Candle wax ?

  197. I’ve never had carpet in my house, only rugs that I could take the porch, scrub away and dry for two to three days. As soon as I moved to the US I had to deal with a coffee stain on a carpet, and the cloth and iron trick worked perfectly, I also used paper towel repeatedly, applied baking soda in order to soak up as much of that coffee as possible because the carpet is pretty fluffy and thick, and the baking soda helped lift the liquid to the top before doing the iron trick.

  198. Kool-Aid/red pop.

    1. cats are better than people my carpet guy says red is really hard to get out. Try hot spot stain remover ( it’s an aerosol) I’ve had good luck with it

    2. Mary Lyons From Michigan? pop…red pop/faygo?

  199. Great tips!! Very helpfull!! 👍

  200. Kool aid! 😩

  201. Fingernail polish

    1. Homemaking with Tina I once spilled nail polish all over my nice cream coloured carpet…went online and it was suggested to use Windex (glass cleaner). Worked!!!! Give it a try.

    2. +nechama schmulian
Have you not tried nail polish remover, aka acetone? Acetone may bleach carpet, in which case you have to choose a lighter spot or nail polish on your carpet, unless your carpet is white.

    3. I also have a nail polish stain on my carpet. What’s the best way to remove it please?

  202. cat vomit!! the worse!! I bought your new book and I just love it. have a great day.

  203. I have a rust stain in my ceramic tub that won’t come out! Been the for years. Don’t know how it got there.

    1. I agree! 🙂

    2. Use Barkeeper’s Friend (the powder version, not the liquid) to remove rust from porcelain.

  204. Turmeric stain 🙁 Definitely the worst I’ve ever had and it still isn’t out after a few years.

    1. Vitamin c as I recall

    2. I’m not surprised, lol. Thank you though!

    3. As a person who worked for a huge carpet cleaning company in London as a sales person – it is NOT coming off… Sorry if that makes you sad. Turmeric is a dye and has most probably dyed the fibres of your carpet. 🙁

  205. How do you remove the “Ghost Stain” you mentioned? Is it permanent?

  206. Hi Melissa and how to clean old stains when we don´t know the origin of them? When you have old sofa or carpet and cannot buy a new one or you simply don´t want just throw the stuff away (spare the planet and don´t want to waste…). Is there a way how to make it at least little bit better if not perfect?

  207. Pet vomit is the worst stain. Still can’t it out and it’s been years.

    1. Thank you, i’ll give it a try! 🙂

    2. Jessica Broeske yellow pet bile is a hard one. Blot with vinegar and water and then use spot shot ( aerosol can) and blot again – it comes out all the way but if it’s a really old I don’t know if it will work

  208. @melissamaker- What about indian milk tea spilling in the entire sofa? other than the stain, how do u tackle with the liquid that the entire sofa has soaked in?

    1. call a pro – teas usually can be used as dyes and probably the fibres of the materials are dyed already. mentally prepare to part with your sofa…:L

  209. Tumeric

    1. Lashlove16 sorry, it’s a dye, not coming up.

  210. Getting the cat to pee and for you to bleed on your carpet shows true dedication! 😜
    Thanks for the video!

    1. Patty Haber lol

  211. I feel bad for you guys’ house- it’s the only one I know that purposely gets stained/dirtied/messy for the viewing pleasure of others! Haha! Seriously though, great video (as always) and thanks for always going above and beyond to provide the best cleaning content!

  212. My carpet stains with something as simple water so we have to be careful how we treat it.

  213. plz do a cleaning video of Rexine sofas..

  214. Yay adulting!

  215. Melissa what about ink stains

  216. food stains….not mentioning any names but I will shamefully raise my hand lol…the peroxide dish soap usually works great

  217. gum on the wall! I still havent gotten it all off.

  218. helping out all those murderers!

    1. You need the Sunshine Cleaning Company

    2. 😀 someone has been watching a lot of TV! loved your comment, Chris!

    3. Nope, nothing gets away the certain chemical protein bonds that blood has, and certain identifiers that are specific can never be destroyed! Also, you’d have to consider changing the plumbing from shower tray down (plus any tiles and beneath all tiles, grouting, and beneath baths and shower trays!!), in addition to the inside of all the pipes, including the local main waste and sewarage lines for a good few miles! This also includes all the way round and beneath the first layer if a ceramic one, and including the soil for about a good football pitch length outwards on all directions and the same distance (and then down to the base rock level in addition, which could be for kilometres or many tens, hundreds, or more of miles!), plus everything above the soil in question being 100% destroyed to minimise any sign. So yeah, things can be more complex than imagined, not to mention there will be additional factors such as personal interactions with missing person, cell traces etc etc. Not to mention, if you think the harsher the chemical will be more beneficial to your clean up effort, you can even create a ‘blood rust’ stain due to the chemicals, or create toxic fumes that could be fatal and/or explosive for yourself depending how long the blood has been sitting there for/not been kept ‘alive’. My morbid curiosity since I was a teen has paid off in regards to providing you with an informative comment response. Therefore it has not been time wasted!
However, I do wish that she prefaced the blood clean up thing by saying something like ‘get yourself and/or the relevant person to safety as soon as possible, then seek medical advice, or call for medical assistance such as emergency services. If someone has caused an injury to you (even if you think they might have done it unintentionally!), and whether they respond in the fastest way and most appropriate way to get you medical assistance. No one should touch you, say or do things that make you feel less than your best on a regular basis, or cause you injury (regardless if you bruise, bleed, how much, or if it is visible). That is not ok. You deserve better than that. You are worth more than that. Maybe talking with [insert link or helplne here] might help you see that, so please do that when it is possible and preferably most safe for you to do so’… You know, the more youtubers and the more varied topics it get discussed on, the more people will see it and will know that it isn’t ok and that if a person is a perpetrator they can seek help, if they know someone or are that someone they can seek help. You know, small things.

  219. Thoroughly saturating urine spots with enzyme cleaner is by far the thing that works best for getting rid of urine stains and smell.

  220. thank you from sudan..♡ ..it’s really works good.

  221. thank you

  222. Thank you so much 😊 for the tips.. you are amazing.. I will do that on my carpet

  223. actually guys i am laiba not haris ok wow I am a big fan of Melissa who agree with me

  224. Hot cocoa in white clothing, sudocreme in my carpet (an entire tub of it) and oil stains on a rug. The first 2 were my 3 year old daughter, the last was some guy who walked into my house with his dirty shoes and trampled all over my 100% wool carpet that I got as a wedding gift.

  225. Nice video! Please make one video about cleaning couches please

    1. Yes, that’s true

    2. Any potential she can make it more about finding more of the higher levels of legal coinage used in the country you live in? Or I live in… I could do with getting paid more for dealing with THAT area!

  226. Melissa, have you tried Norwex? It’s been a total game changer for me & my cleaning!

  227. Kool-Aid I could just never get it out

  228. I had an ink stain on my sweater from a broken ballpoint pen. Just soak in milk for 15 minutes or so, immediately rinse out and wash like you normally would. The milk will have turned light blue by then. Don’t drink it anymore 😉 The stain had been a few days old as well, just don’t wash it first because it will set.

  229. Mine was milk. I couldn’t get that out at all

  230. My toughest carpet stain is ink. My son got it on the floor and I’m not sure if it is permanent marker, but it permanently stained my carpet. ☹️

    1. JM Bennett I’ve heard that hairspray or alcohol and blotting works. I haven’t tried it.

  231. milk! after some time it starts to smell weird even though I clean it as much as I can also vomit yuk

  232. If you pour white wine over a red wine stain it will neutralize the colour and then you just have to blot out the clear liquid left behind. It works well when the stain just happens. The only thing left to deal with is the smell of wine. Don’t believe it? Try it on a white cloth and see what happens. It’s a good magic trick too 😊

  233. I have 2 young children and I have dark spots on my carpet. not sure what they are. they could be juice or food or combination of that. any suggestions on what I could try?

  234. ypur long nails are so distracting and not in a good way. Your beautiful hands are a real feature, the short colourful nails. i took me a long time to realize what bothered me. You grew your nails! :-/

    1. blackbutterfly233ify if you don’t like my comment don’t react. No need to bite my head off

    2. Saida Agourram there is nothing wrong with her nails. If it’s distracting you, don’t watch

  235. Buying your waffle weave towel for my myself for Mother’s Day 🙂

    1. Yay!!! I’m sure you’re going to love them 🙂

  236. my toughest stain is nail polish and makeup on a micro suede couch….still trying to get that out

  237. Hi Melissa and Chad! My toughest stains were spilled coffee and pollen from lillies.

    1. No jinn in

  238. Cat sick …..😫😫😫

  239. my daughter took my lipstick and put it everywhere on the carpet. what shall I use?

  240. oil (industrial-engine) can’t get it out

    1. I’ve gotten automotive oil out of the seat in my car using Dawn dish soap.

    2. As a person who worked for a huge carpet cleaning company in London as a sales person, let me break it to you – it is NOT coming off… Sorry if that makes you sad but you have 0 chance against it. Even if you see methods online for cleaning motor oil, they may work if it is small droplet but I would not even try…

  241. my dtain of carpet are dry..what use

  242. I’ve had red slushy stains on my carpet and had blue ice muscle run spilled on my carpet and it’s been difficult to clean up.

  243. i have very strobn stains which i dnt know which type of stain.what should i use?

  244. First!!!

    1. this is true. done this many times.

    2. geeky science fact, you can get rid of a blood stain with your own spit, this only works if its YOUR blood and you use YOUR spit, kinda gross i know, but it works lol

    3. Clean My Space wow u beat me to it!
