Switching to DIY Cleaning Products | Natural Household Cleaners | How to Make DIY Cleaners

Hey friends! In this video I’m sharing how to make a few simple and easy DIY cleaning products, then testing them out around my house. I recently decided I want to start making an effort to switch over many of my household products to more “green / natural” options. Not only are these DIY cleaners more natural, but they are also very cheap and cost effective! First DIY cleaner I make is a stone safe countertop cleaner using castile soap, alcohol, distilled water, and peppermint oil. Then I make a DIY general all purpose cleaning spray using distilled vinegar, distilled water, and peppermint oil. Next is a DIY phone / touch screen electronics sanitizer using alcohol, distilled water, and tea tree oil. And finally, I make a DIY soap scrub spray using castile soap and distilled water. After I make all these DIY cleaners, I then go and give them a try around my house. For the most part, I was happy with them. However, I have my concerns about how safe rubbing alcohol actually is to use, as well as the smell of vinegar.

Please share with me your DIY cleaning recipes and hacks with me!!

The design of this project is so realistic that everybody will think that some paint has been squeezed out and leaked all over the floor. Grab your hot glue gun and start creating! Use cream of tartar to clean your plates from scuffed marks.

In this video, cleaning expert, Melissa Maker, shows how to wash produce in a quick and effective way using an eco-friendly, homemade produce wash. Produce has pesticides and other unfriendly grime, so this is how to wash produce properly and safely.

Thomas asked: Is there a cheaper way to clean my produce properly?

Answer:

What you need-
1) Fruits and vegetables
2) 2 tablespoons of baking soda
3) 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
4) 1 cup of water
5) spray bottle
6) Strainer
7) funnel (optional)

Shelf life: 2 weeks

In the spray bottle, pour the lemon juice, baking soda and water. Shake it up and set the spray bottle to mist. Put the fruits and vegetables into the strainer and douse using the spray bottle over a sink. Let the produce sit for a few minutes, then rinse with cold water. Allow the produce to air dry in the strainer and enjoy!

Did you know? Lemon juice acts as a natural disinfectant, while baking soda provides the fine grit needed to clean everything off the surface of your produce.

FYI: Thick-skinned fruit like an orange or banana don’t need to be washed since you don’t eat the skin. Thin skinned fruits and vegetables like an apple, grape or tomato should be washed before eating.

How to Descale a Kettle (Easy Household Cleaning Ideas That Save Time & Money) Clean My Space

Maker’s Cleaning Cloths:
Subscribe for a Cleaner Life!

Join the CleanMySpace.com Community!

In this video, cleaning expert, Melissa Maker, answers Tim’s question on how to descale a kettle. Please note, the daytime light in my kitchen was going nuts, so if you see strange lighting, that’s why!

Tim asked: How can I descale my kettle?

Answer:

What you need-
1) Kettle with lime scale
2) 1 cup of vinegar
3) 1 tablespoon of baking soda (optional)
4) Cotton cloth (optional)

Put a cup of vinegar into the kettle and set the kettle to boil. The vinegar helps to heat the element in order to break down the lime scale, while the steam helps clean any leftover residue. Once it turns off, pour the vinegar into your sink and rinse the kettle a few times.

To clean any remaining lime scale:
Take a wet cloth and dip it into a tablespoon of baking soda. Use the cloth to clean any remaining lime scale build up then rinse thoroughly with water. Boil through again if needed.

FYI: Lime scale is not harmful for you to ingest. It’s mainly formed out of calcium and salt, however, it does look gross! It also takes more energy to boil water when you have lime scale build up, since the element needs to work harder to heat and it can cause you to burn your element. Ideally, you want to descale your kettle at least once every 6 months or as needed.

**BONUS TIP**
For cleaning your drain:
Pour a cup of baking soda down the drain and pour the boiling vinegar into the sink. It’ll help to clean and deodorize your drain. Consider that 2 tips for the price of 1!
