  1. 👍🌺👍💐💐👌🤝🤲🏻🙋‍♀️🤲🏻🤲🏻

  2. Borax being advised against here & by EWG:

  3. The ONLY thing that will remove pet odor to the point where the animal cannot smell it any longer (and your carpet will not shout TOILET to that pet) is an enzymatic pet odor eliminator. This DIY product will work for the human nose, but it won’t fool a dog’s nose 🙁

  4. *Post will be long…but worth a read! I can point out several reasons as to why this will not work but instead I will offer feedback that might help someone that may see this comment. If you are able to tackle the pet stain right when it happens the last thing you want to do is allow it to sit for 24 hours with a non enzymatic solution on it. When urine first hits the carpet it’s in an acidic state. At this point it will be the easiest to deal with. Once urine has sat for a while on the carpet fibers it will become alkaline and at this point it can start to cause discoloration. Without having the equipment and solutions a professional carpet cleaner has, your best bet is to use a wet vac, cleaning solution and another product if residual staining is left behind. Depending on the size of the pet will determine how much solution will be needed. A small spot on the surface can be much bigger as it reaches the carpet backing or perhaps the padding. First step is to blot up the spot with a white towel. Blot up as much as possible. You will then need to flush the area. You will need to use an enzyme solution. The only product I would recommend that you can buy in a pet store would be Natures Miracle Urine Destroyer. While you won’t find this product in a professional carpet cleaners shop, it still works well. You can apply this by diluting or apply it full strength. If you do dilute it…you can mix with hot water as this will help to activate the enzymes. You will want to saturate the area enough to ensure the product reaches the padding. Allow the product to dwell for 15 to 25 minutes. Next you will use the wet vac to extract the contaminants. Apply plain cold water (can be from the tap) and extract again. If you still have a residual stain left behind…..(this is a tip the pros won’t want you to know…kind of an industry secret)…you can buy an inexpensive product on Amazon or your local beauty supply that is called 40 Volume. Essentially this is just a peroxide based product. You can put this into a spray bottle…apply full strength on tough pet stains or dilute. Once you have sprayed this on the stain…cover with a towel or small rag depending on the size of stain and this will allow the solution to stay damp longer to continue to work on the stain. Always test in an inconspicuous area before trying any products. Keep up the videos and hope this helps! If you ever have any carpet, upholstery or tile cleaning questions don’t hesitate to ask!

  5. What is borax?

    1. gilly’s find it in the laundry isle at Walmart

    2. Character from dr Seuss right?

  6. hi … thanks a lot for tips 🙂 m regular viewer of your channel and I love it!!
could you please tell us the substitute for borox /hydrogenperoxide / oxygen bleach?? and also for rubbing alcohol??? its not available in Bangalore (India)

  7. Thanks for the tip!  I use vinegar all the time since I have been watching your cleaning shows.  We have a dog that makes messes.  Will try this one!

  8. Tried this. Sorry it didn’t work;(

  9. In the Netherlands i can not buy borax, what is it or whit what can i compare it?

  10. I tried this, the baking soda stuck to my carpet like plaster and I had to scrape it out with a spoon!!

    1. That happened to me too:(

  11. Isn’t Borax poisonous to pets? I don’t think I’d feel comfortable leaving it on the carpet for 24 hours for them to get into.

  12. loving these DIY videos! this came in perfect timing as my cat’s not feeling well today.. luckily i have all of these things in my house

  13. Would this be save to use on couches or other things such as matresses too, or would you recommend to only use baking soda there?

    1. Veggielista CleanmySpace has a section on how to clean mattresses and etc.

  14. This is a long shot but do you happen to have any tips for cleaning books? i loaned one of mine out and it came back with something spilled on it (the pages are now yellow) and i have no idea how to clean it. it doesn’t have to come fully out but i would lie to cleaned it as much as possible. Thanks!

  15. Thank you!  xox

  16. What is the alternative for borax? We don’t have it in our country.

    1. +Schantell Thorburn Not yet.

    2. +Trisha May Sevilla , ever found the alternative for Borax?

  17. How do you clean a big fake plant that’s in a pot?

    1. You just need water for cleaning. So you can set it in the shower or outside in the rain and give it a scrub.

  18. What can i use instead of borax ? we dont have that in France

    1. +CUTEspeedy Same here in Africa 🙁

  19. Thank you, Melissa, for your cute videos! Useful, as always. As I’ve already said on FB, to clean after my cat firstly I apply some baking soda, then some vinegar, and finally the mixture of dish soap and oxygen peroxide. Love your recipe, but don’t know where to buy borax in my country 🙁

    1. Thanks a million!

    2. +Schantell Thorburn yes. you are welcome! Firstly blot the stain (if it is fresh) with paper towel or with a cloth. Do not let it become bigger and do not use any water. Next sprinkle some baking soda on it and let it sit for 15 min. Remove all the baking soda after this time and apply plain white vinegar till it dries completely. Finally, I treat the stain with 50:50 mixture of oxygen peroxide and dish liquid. It sounds a bit too long routine, but it really helps! Perhaps if your stains are smelly and the urine is old, you may need to repeat these steps.

    3. +Jane Candell , can you give a full cleaning routine as we also don’t get Borax here. We had tenants with 6 cats, our house is tiled out, but we can’t manage to get rid of the cat urine smell lingering in the house 🙁 🙁

  20. This is a great recipe! I have a 16 year old cat who makes a mess every day. Can’t wait to try it!

    1. Thank you Danielle, your feedback is very much appreciated.  I found some Bissel and I will definitely get the cleaners here as not getting the victory to clearing the odor is making me turn into a crazy person 😀

    2. We have rentals and when it’s that bad you need to have carpet cleaning company steam clean the tile/grout.  They use special chemicals to remove the odor.  The Pet Stain cleaner is great and I use it for spot cleaning.

    3. +Danielle Graziani Stone , Did it work? We had tenants with 6 cats. Our house is tiled out, no carpets, but we can’t manage to get rid of the cat urine smell in the entire house 🙁 🙁

  21. Love this recipe. Will definitely give it a try. We had an unfortunate accident with our little black Jazz when he came over. I think he wanted to let know Domi who was the boss. *ugh*

  22. love your videos! do you have any tips on cleaning fake flowers?

    1. What’s the problem with cleaning them? 🙂 I usually wash plastic or fabric fake flowers in warm soapy water. Or if they are fragile, use a wet cloth to wipe all the dirt.

  23. Hi Melisa…..with the two doggies we have now and our 2 dearly departed Poodles I’m so glad we have a dark coloured carpet and I have the Bissel “Little Green Machine” which I recommend to anyone with carpet and pets….such a good little machine. I would be horrified if I had white or light coloured carpeting to see the stains that must be there. I like your carpet cleaner formula. ….. on another topic….do you have any good ideas for getting a ball point ink stain about the size of a tooney from a pair of jeans….hubby point his pen in his front pocket…..then….he washed and dried the jeans to really set the stain….the jeans are new and I don’t want to throw them out…so other than cutting the stain out…have you got any ideas??? Thanks….always enjoy your videos….oxoxox

    1. Thanks…..never seen Whink but I have other rust remover stuff and hairspray….will give them both a try.

    2. +Gayle MamaButterfly you could try Whink rust stain remover or hairspray.

  24. i’ve been waiting sooo long for this!!!

  25. OMG. I love, love, love this😻. And this would also work for small “baby” messes. Genius!

  26. 3 videos down and 28 to go!

    1. +Clean My Space hat’s off to you, this must have taken a lot of work to prepare

  27. Would this also work on old per stains? Say 1-2 weeks old. Thanks for this tip.

  28. I’m going to use this when my kids spill stuff on my carpet. Thanks for sharing!

  29. loving this videos! any sugestion on best way to clean pillows?

  30. hooray! I’m so excited for this holiday segment!
