Let me show you how long it takes to sluice or high bank one ounce of gold. In this video I demonstrate high banking on a good claim and show how long it would take to get one ounce of gold.
I use a sluice powered by a water pump away from the river, known as a high banker. The ground here is good but no where near as good as the ground I used to demonstrate panning one ounce of gold. For gold panning I was able to be right at the river’s edge, but because of rules here in British Columbia (BC) we can not discharge dirty water back into the river, so we have to have a settling pond away from the river. Thus I have to go to lesser ground for this demonstration of recovering one ounce of gold using a high banker sluice.
For my high banker setup I am using gold owl mats. Supplied by Mark from Gold Stream Placer Supplies in Grand Prairie, BC. I made a couple mistakes in the sluice box setup where it went out of level for a bit. And I was running a high banker a bit too hot for a while with too much angle and too much water. But we still got good gold recovery in the highbanker mats.
