26 CLEVER HOUSEHOLD HACKS TO CLEAN YOUR LIFE

SPEED UP YOUR CLEANING ROUTINE

In this video, you will find a lot of household lifehacks that will speed up your cleaning routine, you will learn how to make helpful crafts for home, how to fix nearly everything at home. Besides, you will find surprising ways to use such ordinary things as a soap bar, vodka, and flat iron.
Learn unexpected ways to use soap and soap bar. Use a soap bar to make an antifog coating for your glasses. Don’t buy expensive closet fresheners and simply cut a soap bar, wrap pieces into tissue and put into the closet. Make a homemade shower gel from soap leftovers. Make cleaning bombs: mix baking soda, citric acid, and liquid soap. Stir the mixture and place into a mold for ice cubes. These cleaning bombs are perfect for toilet cleaning. Also, soap is a perfect eyebrow volumizer. Check out the tutorial!
Do you need to sharpen a knife? We share an easy way to do it! Take a ceramic plate and place it upside down. Hold the plate with your non-dominant hand and slowly pull the edge of a knife across the ceramic rim. Make a cool door stopper out of an empty paint tube that looks super creative. The design of this project is so realistic that everybody will think that some paint has been squeezed out and leaked all over the floor. Grab your hot glue gun and start creating! Use cream of tartar to clean your plates from scuffed marks.
Air fresheners contain a lot of chemicals that could be very harmful to your health. Also, they cost a lot and the fragrances are usually not so good. You can easily make air freshener by your own hands. All you need is vodka and mint leaves. Watch our tutorial.

PROJECT NOTES:

Borax, is it safe? After hours and hours of research I’ve decided that it’s safe for my home and family when used as a carpet and rug deodorizer. I use the borax from Mountain Rose Herbs (link below).

If you’d like more information on deciding whether or not borax is safe for you, I recommend checking out the articles below, they may help to explain a lot of the confusion that’s out there about borax and boric acid.

If you’re not comfortable using borax that’s okay too! Simply replace the borax in the recipe with more baking soda and you’re good to go.

———-

Essential oils, are they the same as fragrance oils? Short answer: nope.

It may be tempting to use fragrance oils instead of essential oils because they’re cheaper but many fragrance oils contain synthetic chemicals that you may not want to be inhaling. I know essential oils are expensive and if you find any for really cheap you should be cautious and question why they’re so cheap. If you can’t afford essential oils, it’s totally okay, just skip adding them to the deodorizer, it’ll still work great!

PROJECT SUPPLIES:

Ingredient List:
– 1c. baking soda
– 1/2c. borax (sodium borate/tetraborate NOT boric acid):
– 1/4c. cornmeal
– 10-15 drops of grapefruit essential oil:
– 10-15 drops of lavender essential oil:

Tool List:
– mixing bowl
– spoon
– mason jar
– cheesecloth (or 1 sheet of paper and a hole punch)
– scissors

How to Clean Hardwood Floors (Household Cleaning Ideas That Save Time & Money) Clean My Space

Maker’s Cleaning Cloths:
Subscribe for a Cleaner Life!

Join the CleanMySpace.com Community!

Check out cleanmyspace.com/clean-your-hardwood-floors for more help on cleaning your hardwood floors!

In this video, cleaning expert, Melissa Maker, discusses different types of hardwood flooring and share my favorite method for cleaning hardwood floors with all of y’all.

I also demonstrate mopping techniques for effective floor mopping. Cleaning hardwood floors is really important if you want them to last you a lifetime and look great! Thanks for watching!

Richard asked: How do I clean and maintain my hardwood floors?

There are many different types of hardwood floors:
1) Polyurethane coating makes the floors look clean and shiny
2) Hardwood finished wood has a waxy or oily coating which repels water or liquid
3) Unfinished hardwood CANNOT be mopped since it will damage the floors

To test if you can mop your floors, drop a few drops of water in a discreet area and if it beads, you have a floor coating.

Answer:

What you need-
1) Hardwood floors
2) Vinegar
3) Dishwashing liquid
4) Wringer bucket
5) Microfiber twist mop
6) Microfiber cloth
7) Rubbing alcohol
8) Warm water

Put half a pinky nail’s worth of dishwashing liquid into a wringer bucket. Dishwashing liquid is a neutral cleaner and will help to remove dirt well without leaving a residue. Add a cap full of vinegar and fill with hot water. Vinegar is a mild disinfectant and will help to cut grease without leaving streaks. Soak the mop head in the bucket for a few minutes to soften. The mop has to be almost dry before mopping hardwood floor. When you mop, clean in an S-shaped pattern. This ensures you get all areas of the floor cleaned. Keep your bucket around you and try not to step into areas you’ve already cleaned. To be extra diligent, you can take a microfiber cloth and do a quick wipe down so no water is left behind.

Best practices are to sweep and vacuum once or twice a week and mop once every one or two weeks.
