Tips for Greener Household Cleaning

On today’s episode of Live Young Lifestyle, we learn the detrimental effects of common household cleaning products on our health and the environment, the three types of cleaning products we should avoid, and some safer, do-it-yourself household cleaners.

Do-it-yourself cleaning recipes:
All purpose cleaner: Mix 50% water and 50% distilled white vinegar in a spray bottle. Use on countertops, basins, windows and floors.
Bathroom tile and sink cleaner: Mix 1/2 cup baking soda with a little liquid dish soap to make a paste.
Greasy surfaces: Mix vinegar and salt and scrub.
Oven cleaner: Sprinkle baking soda on oven stains. Moisten with water and let sit overnight. Wipe clean with damp sponge.
Laundry: Add 1/2 cup of distilled vinegar to the rinse cycle to remove strong odors, brighten colors, and reduce static cling.

Switching to DIY Cleaning Products | Natural Household Cleaners | How to Make DIY Cleaners

Hey friends! In this video I’m sharing how to make a few simple and easy DIY cleaning products, then testing them out around my house. I recently decided I want to start making an effort to switch over many of my household products to more “green / natural” options. Not only are these DIY cleaners more natural, but they are also very cheap and cost effective! First DIY cleaner I make is a stone safe countertop cleaner using castile soap, alcohol, distilled water, and peppermint oil. Then I make a DIY general all purpose cleaning spray using distilled vinegar, distilled water, and peppermint oil. Next is a DIY phone / touch screen electronics sanitizer using alcohol, distilled water, and tea tree oil. And finally, I make a DIY soap scrub spray using castile soap and distilled water. After I make all these DIY cleaners, I then go and give them a try around my house. For the most part, I was happy with them. However, I have my concerns about how safe rubbing alcohol actually is to use, as well as the smell of vinegar.

Please share with me your DIY cleaning recipes and hacks with me!!
