A very recent study done by researchers at Northwestern University analyzed mortality data from Covid19 patients from hospitals and clinics in China, France, Germany, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US and found all were deficient in Vitamin D. Their conclusion; Vitamin D3 (from sunlight) or suppliments lowers the risk of a cytokine storm reaction (damaging the lungs) in patients with adequate levels of vitamin D. Elsewhere, I have found recommendations of 5,000 to 10,000 IU daily.

    Imagine that. Have you seen this on the news? Has the WHO, CDC or Dr. Anthony Fauci revealed that vitamins just might save you? Nope. They have some explaining to do, eh?

  29. Western doctors are incredibly smart idiots. If I need an operation, I’m all theirs and I’d be very grateful but I’d never, for a second, take advice around blood pressure from a doc. They always want to give you drugs.

  40. Regardless of the BP considerations.. What do you think of vit D level of 6.0 is a 50 year old woman? Is medical community aware of implications related to severe vit D deficiency? In my experience there is a huge underestimation. There are also actual symptoms caused by severe vit D deficiencies. In your qualified opinion, should there be large scale serious studies conducted by Pharm/CDC/FDA(?)industry about this important vitamin/hormone and of the reasons for this widespread epidemic of D deficiency? Does Cleveland Clinic conduct any research?

  43. News flash, Doc, people can easily do their own research online because many of the studies surrounding supplement use are published for all to see. It’s clear that a lot of doctors are being bribed by big pharma to say all kinds of nonsensical things about vitamins, it’s a shame that we can’t even trust doctors anymore. I take up to 8 supplements daily, including 4000 IU of D3 and I swear by them. I’ve never taken any prescription drugs and I never will if I can help it, and I’m 50 and in excellent health.
    The bottom line, do your own research and consult a professional herbalist if you’re not comfortable on your own. If you decide to take supplements, especially in higher dosages, be sure to get your blood levels and liver enzymes checked regularly for abnormalities and toxicity because everything that goes into your body gets processed by your liver, so toxicity is a real concern with some supplements. Carry on in good health!

I started taking them twice a day following instructions and didn’t know I was taking 5000 units + daily For about 2 plus weeks or so. I began waking up around 4am to urinate and now I’ve been urinating more often even though I stopped several days back my doctors believes this is the cause I never knew vit d can do that if that’s in fact the case

  49. Hi, i have sever vitamine D deficiency (only12)… i had taken 10.000unit per day for 1 year but when i checked after 1 year it still shows 12…. i am really worried it still very low… how much unit should i take in a day to get better..? Is there anyone who can answer my question..??

    1. On my medical record – 0 to 10 is deficient. 10 to 30 is insufficient. And above 30 is good.

    2. Laxmi Adhikari, have you ever thought that if your level of vitamin D is 12, then it might be the norm? I’ve recently checked myself, and my level of vitamin D is 10. Moreover, most people’s levels are around 10-12. So, I guess, that is the norm! And by the way, vitamin D is in fact a hormone, not a vitamin.

Laxmi Adhikari not all brands work I’ve tryed several brands nothing worked for me recently I’ve been taking a brand from amazon called naturewise and it did raise my level take it on a full stomach with food and take it at least 2 hours apart from any medications or other vitamins good luck

I just started better health way brand (5000 iu D3), I will be taking one capsule every two day but I am worried that it will cause harm to my kidneys, stomach etc, because with 1000 iu you got all these side effects!!!   61. My Vit D levels are borderline according to my doctor, so im taking 1000 i.u. daily as liquid. I hate the sun, im always avoiding it, and i spend most time indoors away from windows. (If what ever it is i need from the sun can penetrate glass) So for me i definatley do need to take vit daily because i do not plan on sitting in the sun or changing my life style.

    2. Getting sunlight through windows makes you more defficient since UV B rays are completely blocked and only UV A rays are able to penetrate. The UV B ray is responsible for the precursor to create vitamin D3.
